ITR-1 Sahaj is the simplest Income Tax Return form designed for resident individuals with basic income sources. It is mainly used by salaried persons and pensioners who do not have complex financial transactions.
Who Can File ITR-1?
ITR-1 is applicable for resident individuals whose total income includes:
- Salary / Pension Income
- Income from One House Property (excluding cases of brought-forward loss)
- Income from Other Sources (Interest, FD, Savings Interest, etc.)
- Agricultural Income up to ₹ 5,000
Who Cannot File ITR-1?
You cannot file ITR-1 if:
- Your total income exceeds ₹ 50 lakh
- You have more than one house property
- You have capital gains income
- You have business or professional income
- You are a Director in a company
- You hold unlisted equity shares
- You have foreign income or assets
- You have TDS deducted under Section 194N
- You have losses under “Other Sources”
